Addison Samera

It occurred to me after I posted my last story, that there are some of you that may not get the birth announcement, that may be interested to see my handiwork. So, here it is...

I know that I've been a slacker at posting stuff lately, but it's because of the kids and this cute baby...

Our first attempt at a family picture. I'll take four out of six people looking at the camera.

Andi loves her baby sister. She tells random strangers that she has a new baby sister. It's pretty cute.

We had to convince Dylan that it was ok to sit on my lap with the baby. He only did it after Andi and Peyton had a turn.

She's really a good baby and doesn't really cry unless she has a good reason, like if someone wearing a yellow shirt pokes her in the eye.

So, Sam went into labor Sunday and she ended up having the baby at 12:24 PM today. She weighed 6lbs 6 oz.I've tried adding pictures, but I'm getting some error now and I need to get back to the hospital pronto before Sam gets exasperated with me. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

Baby Shower

While Jared, our daughters, and I were off traipsing through nature and such, Aubrey threw Sam a baby shower. Why? Because she's a super fantastic person. I just wanted to throw some of her pictures from it up here because it turned out so cool.

We got a lot of good stuff. I forgot to register for this, so we'll never know if anyone would have bought it for us. If any of you are looking to spend some money and want to throw some our way, we're registered at Target ;) .

Baby On the Way

So, Sam had a doctor appointment yesterday to make sure everything was going fine with the baby and everything. They did another ultrasound, and everything is looking fine. She's still a girl (yeah), and the extra fluid that was in her kidney at the last ultrasound was not there any more. They estimated that she weighs 4 1/2 lbs now. Everything is looking fine so far.

We were able to set the induction date. If you're wonder why we get to set induction dates, it's because Sam's heart is super messed up, and it's probably best if I don't have to deliver the baby at home or on the interstate. Anyway, Soni's birthday will be November 29th, unless she decides to come sooner. If I'm doing my math right, that is six weeks from now. Holy crap.

Some uninteresting facts about her birth:
She'll be our third child born on a Thursday (Peyton was the only one not).
She's breaking the having a kid every 20 months pattern by two days.
She'll be our only kid not born in an even year.
Come tax time, she'll be another deduction. Woo hoo!
She will share a birthday with Don Cheadle and Howie Mandel, and lots of other people.

A rose by any other name...

Here it is. One week post-ultrasound and we haven't posted anything since. Which is really weird to me, because since we told Andi what we were going to name the baby, I thought we would be spreading it like wildfire. I think there was just a little communication breakdown in our household. Cameron thought I was going to announce it on the blog, I thought he was, or maybe we both thought Andi would do it. Anyway, we have officially decided what to name our new little girl. It was pretty much decided before we even had the ultrasound, but after a week of trying it out, and getting approval from some family members, and most importantly the Crookston's, since they are like honorary family to us anyway :) I guess we should announce the name to everyone that frequents the blog. Sorry it took so long...at least it's not Halloween, like I thought it might be before, right?
Her name is going to be: Addison Samera Carter.
We will be calling her: That depends. Right now we plan to call her both Addi and Soni (pronounced Sunny). Eventually, we imagine having an Addi and an Andi would get confusing, so that's why we will probably call her Soni most of the time.
I thought of the name Addison at playgroup one day. I hadn't heard it before, and fell in love with it. When I mentioned it to another mom there, she asked if I watched "Grey's Anatomy". Well, you should all know how Cameron feels about that show from a previous blog, so the short answer, no. I do not watch Grey's Anatomy.
Samera is a middle name I actually came up with when I was pregnant with Peyton. I figured out if you took the first letter and last letter of my first name (Samantha) and smush the middle portion of Cameron's name between them, you get Samera. I thought it sounded pretty, and we wouldn't have to wrestle with family names for months, trying to come up with something that sounded "right".
So, there you have it. The "little bug" in my tummy has a name and an identity. She's no longer an "it". My next mission: trying to convince Cameron that Soni does in fact need a swing, AND a new car seat. Wish me luck!

It Wil Be A . . .

Andi was right. It's a girl. Here are the pictures we got from the doctor today.

This is the visual of the her being a girl, so they told us. This could actually be Sam's kidney or something, I wouldn't know the difference.

The baby has a foot. Two of them. Woo hoo.
