Bryan Adams to the Rescue

Last week I took some CD's in to work to listen to while I'm working, or as Sam would say "working". I didn't really notice until I got to work and started listening that everything I took in was alternative or rock. No big whoop, I used to listen to just that all the time when I was a teenager.

After a few days of listening to a lot of Nirvana and Metallica, (I know, I'm a horrible person for having Metallica CD's) I noticed that I would get home and be in kind of a bad mood. I would have little patience for the kids, and zero patience for the dog. In fact, I wanted to kick the dog for no reason. It's not like Nirvana has a song called "Your dog sucks, kick it". I guess listening to grungy music for 8 hours in a row made me a little edgy.

So this week I took in a couple non-rock non-alternative CD's, including a Bryan Adams CD I have. (Hey, he was cool back in the day. What's that, he wasn't? Ah, man) I noticed that when I'm pounding on my keyboard and having thoughts of punching people in the face, it's time to switch to some mellow music. I know that listening to Bryan Adams may not be cool, but it saves my kids some emotional distress and it saves the dog from physical abuse. At least I don't have an Air Supply CD. If I did, I would take that to work and sing to it. But then I'd probably be faced with emotional distress and physical abuse from my coworkers.

My mom thinks Bryan Adams is cool, maybe that helps your case.

And for some reason, I think listening to Air Supply at work would make me have thoughts of punching people in the face.

This is not to say I have a bunch of heavy metal at work, it's mostly Weezer, Depeche Mode, and They Might Be Giants, etc. But I totally understand what you're saying. I stopped listening to country music in high school because I found it was making me depressed all the time.

And thanks, by the way, I'm humming All out of Love now.

I think we have some Air Supply MP3's we can burn onto a CD for you honey, also REO Speedwagon and Chicago. Would those also qualify you for a beating?

Jared country music does not make you depressed (insert eye rolling here).

They Might Be Giants is heavy metal? It seems closer to Wiggles style polka to me, but whatever you think dear.

I have an Air Supply CD that you can have a copy of if you'd like Sam. ;) You'll have to burn it later since I am now in the mood to listen to it.

Though if you were really looking for a beating I have a Yanni CD that is feeling quite neglected...

Oooh! I know what I'm getting Cameron for his birthday! Does Enya have a greastest hits album?

Enya? Not funny. I would have to start beating myself up.

I never claimed that TMBG is heavy metal, hon. I think that you may have misread. I was just giving an example of the types of music I do have at work. None of those bands are heavy metal.

Ooooh. My dad had a great suggestion: how about some Barry Manilow?

I know who Barry Manilow is, but I have no idea what he sings. I'm sure it's some good feelin' music like you would hear on the Delilah show.
